By installing our browser extension or using our web app, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to be bound by these Terms.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using the Submerge browser extension, companion web application, and related services (collectively, the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not access or use the Service. We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time, and your continued use of the Service constitutes acceptance of such modifications.
2. Description of Service
Submerge provides an AI-powered language immersion platform that transforms accessible native-language web pages and video subtitles into tailored foreign language learning materials. The Service is provided for personal, non-commercial educational purposes. While we strive to provide highly accurate translations, pronunciation comparisons, and contextual reviews, all AI-generated content is provided "as-is" without warranty of complete accuracy.
3. User Accounts & Security
To access certain features of the Service (such as custom stats, cloud sync, and the study center), you must register an account via our authentication provider (Logto). You are solely responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account. You agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account or security breaches.
4. Subscriptions, Billing, and Trials
Submerge offers a subscription-based "Early Access Plus" plan. A 7-day free trial is available to new users with no credit card required. Upon expiration of the trial, you may choose to subscribe to our monthly paid plan. Subscriptions are billed on a recurring monthly basis via Stripe. You can cancel your auto-renewal at any time through your Personal Settings. Canceled subscriptions will remain active until the end of the current billing cycle. Due to the infrastructure costs of running advanced AI and speech synthesis models, payments are non-refundable except as required by law.
5. Acceptable Use
You agree not to misuse the Service or assist anyone else in doing so. Misuse includes, but is not limited to: (a) reverse engineering, scraping, or harvesting data from the extension or web server; (b) attempting to bypass any rate limits, quotas, or security measures; (c) using the Service to generate or distribute spam, harmful, or unlawful content; or (d) overloading our cloud servers or translation infrastructure.
6. Intellectual Property Rights
All intellectual property rights in the Service, including the Submerge browser extension source code, AI orchestration algorithms, website designs, brand assets, logos, and proprietary educational workflows, are owned by Submerge and its licensors. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install the browser extension and use the WebApp solely for your personal language learning purposes.
7. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Submerge and its developers shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses, resulting from: (a) your access to or use of or inability to access or use the service; (b) any conduct or content of any third party on the service; or (c) unauthorized access, use, or alteration of your transmissions or content.
8. Governing Law & Contact
These Terms and any dispute arising out of or related to them shall be governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the Submerge creators operate, without regard to conflict of law principles.
